Complete Review The computer tested was a Gateway M130 Laptop with Windows 2000 as the OS. The time from start to finish of the initial scan was four minutes and 22 seconds with 262,381 objects scanned. Ease of Use/Download: The download of NoAdware was simple and took very little time (as most of the products out there). A pop-up immediately appeared asking me if I wanted to download the latest updates. To be completely honest, the user interface window was rather boring. With this said, many people trust the product as NoAdware is approaching 50 million downloads, so beauty isn’t everything! At first glance it appears that NoAdware is simply lacking on features. If you are looking for all options right there in front of you, this isn’t your tool. You will need to use the included drop down menu of the “options” tab at the top to access this software’s true power. Features: The Software Interface Contains: Scan My PC – This will begin the scan process on your computer. Scan Files/Folders – Gives a choice of which files and folders you would like to have scanned and ignores the rest. Stop Scan – You will have the option to stop a scan but not to pause. Update Protection – By clicking on the update protection choice, you will be armed with the latest protection available. Remove Items – Once the scan is complete, you will have the option to remove the items detected. This will require you to purchase the full version of the software. Options – This is in the drop down menu and is where most of the choices are.
Support: NoAdware offers live chat from 5 am to 11 pm Eastern Standard Time. From my test questions to the chat representative, they seem decently well-versed on their product. There is also sufficient on line help files to assist if needed. Effectiveness: NoAdware detected 18 of the 20 malware samples we inserted on the test computer. It removed all 18 without a hitch on the first round. The initial Full Scan detected 12 registry problems, 460 cookies, and 8 files. Again, 262,381 were scanned. Recommendation: If you are looking for nice looking software with everything at your fingertips, this is not the product you want. This product is built for simplicity and to do its job. It would be nice to have a “facelift” later so that the quality of the product matches its looks. From the standpoint of features for the money, this software is a great deal as you only have to pay one fee ever and have ongoing protection.
